Der hierf\u00fcr entscheidende Wettbewerbsfaktor ist die Wandlungsf\u00e4higkeit von Produktionssystemen. Um die maximale Wandlungsf\u00e4higkeit zu erreichen, ist eine strikte Trennung zwischen der Hardware der Produktionssysteme und der steuernden Software zu schaffen. Das Projekt SDM4FZI besch\u00e4ftigt sich daher mit der neuen Methode: Software-defined Manufacturing (SDM). Analog zu L\u00f6sungen aus der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik sollen auch nicht vordefinierte Funktionen durch automatisch generierte Software realisiert werden. Grundvoraussetzung ist die Abstraktion der vorhandenen Hardware durch digitale Zwillinge mit deren Hilfe die Software automatisch abgeleitet und verteilt werden kann. Dazu ist die vorhandene Produktions-OT (Operational Technology) neu zu denken, um die Steuerungs- und Kommunikationsinfrastruktur SDM-f\u00e4hig zu gestalten. Sie beschreiben Produkte, Prozesse und Produktionssysteme mittels Daten, Informationen und Verhaltensmodellen, die \u00fcber den gesamten Maschinen- bzw. Produktlebenszyklus entstehen und anfallen. Ein einheitlicher Bauplan (Referenzarchitektur) stellt die Interoperabilit\u00e4t zwischen den digitalen Zwillingen \u00fcber die gesamte Zulieferkette sicher. Hierzu wird die Methode der Virtualisierung zur Trennung von Software und Hardware durch eine Abstraktionsschicht eingesetzt. Um diese bestm\u00f6glich auszusch\u00f6pfen werden Strategien erforscht, um die wandlungsf\u00e4hige SMD-Fabrik an die unsicheren Entwicklungen auf dem Markt und im gesamten Unternehmensumfeld
